Acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), alternative medicine and holistic veterinary medicine

In ancient China, acupuncture in animals was already performed centuries ago. Acupuncture for animals is enjoying increasing popularity, especially in the treatment of chronic diseases and in the integrative pain management of dogs and cats. It is effective in the treatment of muscle tension, activates the immune system, increases vitality, zest for life and promotes animal activity. In the TCM consultation, I see each animal as an entity of body, soul and spirit, which is in an interrelation with nature and its environment. As a unique individual, every pet needs individual treatment. Acupuncture is a wonderful way for me to support our dogs and cats in their old age and to improve their quality of life.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) belongs to the so-called complementary medicine and is a useful supplement to conventional medicine. According to the concept of TCM, in a healthy body the life energy, the "Qi", flows unhindered on energy paths, the so-called meridians, through the body and thus connects and regulates all bodily functions including the psyche. In case of imbalances, the therapist can intervene with the help of acupuncture. The energy flow can be regulated via the so-called acupuncture points. By inserting very thin needles into these specific points, blockages are released, the body is stimulated to heal itself and balance is restored.

Treatment with acupuncture has been proven to be effective for dogs and cats , especially for

  • Back pain

  • Spondylosis and spondylarthrosis in dogs

  • Joint pain in knees, hips, shoulders, elbows
Hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia in dogs

  • Intervertebral disc disease in dogs

  • Epilepsy

  • Depression and anxiety disorders

  • Weakness, states of exhaustion

  • Gastro-intestinal diseases and digestive disorders (e.g. gastritis, irritable bowel disease, chronic diarrhoea)
